Welcome to our new Class blog. Watch this space for our first post!
In case you need it, here is this week’s homework.
This week our class was given the chance to learn more about one of the many cultures represented at Robin Hood Academy: Poland. We designed a mascot for the class, learned some Polish phrases, created Polish art and some children even learned a traditional folk dance!
Our PE day is now Thursday when year 5 walk to Beechcroft. This week, we spent our time with the tennis coach learning about rallies.
On Wednesday, to help our understanding of the Lunar Cycle (and because they’re delicious) we used Jaffa Cakes to mimic the different views of the moon.
This morning, as part of the Fiver Challenge, the groups created and performed a pitch to explain their ideas. The event will be held on the afternoon of Wednesday 28th June. Take a look!
Last night, the Drama Club performed a fabulous rendition of ‘The Genius’ at the REP. The show was a smash hit and every child did Robin Hood Academy- and themselves- proud.
This half term, year 5 are taking part in a drama workshop which will run alongside their space topic. Their mission? A one way trip to Mars as part of the Mars One venture!
Year 5 will be taking part in the Fiver Challenge after half term. The idea behind the challenge is that each child receives £5 from school (which they need to eventually pay back). The children then work in teams to create a small business using their money- and any profit made is theirs to keep!
To give you an idea of the types of businesses which have previously worked well, past participants have tried:
- Ice lollies
Have a think about what you might like to do over half term!
In maths today, we were looking at regular vs irregular shapes. Can you remember how to tell them apart?
